“All YOU have to do is show up”

 

I have been training with Don for several months now. He is experienced, committed, compassionate, encouraging, always smiling and ready to make useful suggestions and modifications. I was introduced to Don at the gym as I was looking for a Personal Trainer and a Nutritionist. At the time, I was going through some life changes and I noticed that I was gaining weight and losing muscle mass. I needed someone to get me back on track and hold me accountable, and that he did.

From day one, I knew he was the right trainer for me. He sat me down and we chatted about what my goals were and we came up with a plan on how to achieve them. He listened without judgment and never once did I feel uncomfortable sharing my story with him. I train with Don twice a week or as I like to call them “therapy sessions”. I never thought I would look forward to working out!

Don is focused on helping me achieve my goals and makes every session challenging and fun. He ensures that my technique and form are correct to avoid any injuries and he checks in periodically to see how things are going and to ask if I have any questions about my plan.

  

I remember during the first few weeks of training; I was having a bad day.  I just didn’t feel like I gave it my all and I was beating myself up. Don reached out to check in on me as he could tell I wasn’t myself when I left the gym. My favorite line from him was “Sometimes you’ll show up feeling like “she-hulk” and other times you’ll just show up. Welcome to the crazy!” I still laugh at that as it’s so true. “All we have to do is show up”.

Since starting with Don, I have learned so much about myself physically, mentally and emotionally. I am so much stronger that I have ever been, and my nutrition is back on track. I have gained muscle, lost weight and I gained my confidence back. Don is much more than a trainer to me, we became close friends and I will be forever grateful for his part in my journey.

I cannot say enough positive things about Don. I highly recommend him as a Personal Trainer and as a Nutritionist.
